Developments
Apiter laboratory focuses on the development of propolis derivatives, that in the same way as other products of natural origin for food or pharmaceutical use, consists of a complex mixture and there are no standardized methods for its quality evaluation.
The Bioanalytics area developed strategies for propolis characterization that contributed to establish the profile of Uruguayan propolis and to define a consistent quality for the export products of Apiter. The company has been selected by the High Impact Innovation Program of the National Agency for Research and Innovation (ANII) to implement the project, which also involves the development of new products and the expansion of the production.
In a project for Hípica Rioplatense that has been launched three years ago, the Bioanalytics laboratory has developed new confirmatory analysis methods for doping tests in equine sports.
The evolution of positive cases detected in Uruguay –that have increased significantly, reaching detection percentages similar to those of racetracks from the region and the world– shows the new approach and the new analytical and scientific capabilities used to carry out many of these tests.
