The PCTP has designed and implemented the Innovation Acceleration Model (MAI ®), for the management of research, development and innovation (R&D&I) projects.

This model integrates a set of planning and monitoring, technological surveillance and evaluation tools that enable effective project management, enhancing the probability of success and valorization of results.

Working under an open innovation scheme, specialized resources are integrated to increase innovation capacity and expand the scope of its R&D&I projects.

MAI complies with international quality standards, being certified under UNE 166002: 2021 in its R&D&I management system and UNE 166006:2018 in its surveillance and intelligence system, by the Spanish Association for Standardization and Certification (Asociación Española de Normalización y Certificación).

Value proposition

Over the years, the Innovation Management Office has developed a portfolio of services based on best practices and international standards, tailoring its offerings to meet the demands and needs of companies and organizations in our ecosystem.
While these services are adapted to the specific requirements of different users, the following is a list of the most frequently provided services.

This service provides up-to-date information on trends in technological areas and markets of interest.

Real-time monitoring of patents and publications, as well as web pages and other information available in the public domain. Likewise, products and companies in the market are monitored. Normative/regulatory developments.

Personalized technology watch bulletins that allow you to monitor relevant information regarding the technical field of interest at a national, regional or international level in real time. These bulletins provide information on trends, developments and technological opportunities. They may include trend analysis, updates on activities of main competitors, identification of market opportunities, among others.

The evaluation of the feasibility of technological opportunities and ideas allows us to advance towards the development of successful R&D&I projects. This evaluation consists of an initial diagnosis of the potential project and is strongly supported by the different products of Surveillance and Competitive Intelligence; revealing scientific-technical feasibility, regulatory aspects, commercial, innovative merit, among others. The evaluation of opportunities and ideas allows to validate them in a preliminary way and thus advance towards the design of R&D&I projects minimizing risks and associated costs.

It allows determining the state of the art relevant to the technical field of interest, providing an overview of the technological environment. It is the basis for determining the possible innovative merit at national, regional or international level. It allows the identification of emerging technologies, trends and relevant developments. Evaluation of competitors' activities (patents, collaborations, etc.) Detection of possible opportunities and threats.

The design of R&D&I projects consists of defining their roadmap based on the planning of objectives, scope, financial resources (budget), technical capabilities, key technological partners, among other elements. The design is key to minimize potential risks during the execution stage, as well as to define the indicators of compliance with objectives and milestones, during the control and monitoring stage.

Formulation is the drafting of the R&D&I projects themselves, considering the elements defined in the design stage. The documents generated can be submitted to funding agencies, both national and international, to carry out the developments.

The R&D&I project management service involves the follow-up of the activities foreseen in the Work Plan, in accordance with the deadlines established and the resources assigned in the Project, risk management, monitoring and integration of technological, commercial and regulatory information, in order to facilitate and expedite decision making.

Management also includes advice on linkage models and strategies for the protection of results that are most appropriate for each project, as well as the design and preparation of contracts for the exploitation of results.

This type of service is preferably performed at stages when R&D lines or commercialization strategies in a sector have already been defined.

It provides a complete and updated evaluation of a specific area offering valuable information for decision making.

It basically consists of monitoring the environment, with patent databases as the main source of information, in order to adjust the strategies already drawn up to new demands and the appearance of new potential competitors.

This service is very effective in defining marketing strategies, especially when there are exclusive rights abroad.

It is also essential when selecting potential partners to associate in the development of a certain line or in the definition of possible technology suppliers.

This type of service provides a report on the business environment of a specific sector or market. Identification of the main players in the area, potential partners and/or interested in licensing. Identification of trends and competitors. Compilation and analysis of data and commercial trends. Determination of potential demand for developments.

This service provides information on rules, laws and regulations relevant to a specific area. It allows you to keep up to date with current national and international regulations.

This service includes the analysis of intellectual property arising from the results of R&D&I activities and projects, the evaluation of the technologies involved, as well as the analysis of the potential market where these results can be applied. It provides elements and recommendations for their protection and valorization.

It allows to evaluate the state of the art of a given technological sector, facilitating decision making in the development of research or in the commercialization stage of products or technologies.

Thanks to the analysis, it is achieved:
Identify solutions already developed. Save efforts in redundant R&D.
Detect and evaluate potential partners for certain R&D areas that are not the company's core business.
Avoid producing and commercializing already patented solutions.
Open a differential R&D line, where there are no patent infringement problems and that has a positive impact on the company's business.

It includes a list of Patents, Articles and Commercial Products with the most relevant data. The legal status of patents is indicated.

Advice on technology transfer. Technology identification, determination of technical and commercial feasibility, invention valuation, intellectual property management, technical support.
